Oaks 134

I love Derby Week! I'm one of those people that think that anyone working in Louisville should have the whole week before Derby off so that they can enjoy all the Derby Week festivities. I don't understand how anyone cannot enjoy Derby Week. Isn't it a national holiday? Ok, anyway, I went to Oaks with my mom, Devon&Brad, John, and Thad. Our seats were in the Turf Club. There were several celebrities that were seated at the tables surrounding us - Bobby Flay, Joey Fatone, Smokey Robinson, Jerry O'Connell, and (my favorite) David Padgett. I was actually most impressed by him. I actually was down for the day after all the tickets were cashed, but I ended up winning my bets for the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic and Derby Race that I had placed for Derby Day. (Poor Eight Belles, by the way. That was tragic. I just wanted to cry).

David Padgett - He's a giant. I mean, look at my hat. It barely comes up to his shoulder. He was very nice.

"Excuse me, Mr. Fatone, could I take a picture with you? I'm a big fan." I couldn't resist. Took my back to my *NSYNC days. Ahh...memories.

But the funniest part was when my mom went up to him and said, "I've bought enough of your damn albums for my kids. The least you can do is take a picture with me." He laughed and took one gladly.

Thad was really excited to take a picture with Bobby Flay from the Food Network. He was actually pretty arrogant. Maybe he was just preoccupied with having his horses run on Oaks Day and Derby Day.

So, I know the dress is a repeat, but isn't the hat perfect!?! Thank you Dee's Crafts for the best selection of Derby hats in the world!

6 months...

Well, today marks the 6 month out mark from the wedding. I have made a lot of progress, but there is still a lot to do. Decisions to make on each and every detail that will make our wedding special. We're meeting with the coordinator tomorrow and hopefully will make some progress.
School is going well. Getting ready for another test on Monday. Only 4 more school tests to go and then boards and then I'm done. Graduation is coming up the day after Derby (typical UK/Lexington inconveniencing Louisvillians. Not a big Lexington fan). But I'm not officially done with the program until the middle of July. I guess they figure no one wants to come back and walk in December.

Mom broke her ankle last weekend, so I've been taking care of her all week. She's making progress slowly but surely.

Don't know which of my friends read my posts, but I miss them all. And all their kids are cute, by the way. I try to at least look at the pictures of everyone anyway. Here's a recent picture of me at a college friend's wedding last week. Enjoy!

26

Well, tomorrow is my 26th birthday. I talked to my friend Kate when she turned 26, and she said that she would not be celebrating her 26th birthday. But instead she would be celebrating the anniversary of her 25th birthday. I thought for a while that would be a good idea, but then I realized that I will be 26 when I get married. So if turning 26 means I am closer to my wedding, then I am excited about it.

Off to bed...got surgery bright and early tomorrow morning. Only 3 more weeks!
